General Dentistry

During a dental examination Banyan Dental will use instruments, tests, radio graphs and clinical expertise to diagnose potential or existent disease states and pathologies. Our primary focus is to form an individualized plan to prevent or treat disease states of the oral cavity.  In the case of Cosmetic Dentistry, we will work with you to identify your esthetic goals.

General Dentistry and Advanced Restorative Procedures

Although we cannot discuss all of the treatments we perform within the context of this page, we have outlined a few of our most common procedures.

Dental Fillings:

Dental fillings are used to repair damage to the structure of a tooth or teeth. After the removal of the diseased tooth structure, the tooth is restored with the appropriate filling material.  This may be gold, amalgam, white filling material, or porcelain. No man-made filling is perfect, each filling material has its advantages and disadvantages.

Bonding:

Bonding is the process of using composite resins to attach materials to the surface of a tooth for restorative purposes. Teeth with small chips or cracks are typically repaired through bonding.   An porcelain-like material is applied to the surface of a tooth, sculpted into shape, contoured and polished, making the crack or chip invisible.

Root Canals:

Root canal therapy removes infected nerve tissue within the root canal space of the tooth. Once the infected material is removed the tooth is filled with an antibacterial filling, and the tooth is “capped” with a Dental Crown for protection.

Dental Crowns:

Dental crowns also known as a “cap” can repair teeth that are decayed or damaged beyond what a simple filling can correct.

Dental Bridges:

Dental bridges replace missing teeth with an artificial tooth/crown. The artificial tooth/crown is held in place by being anchored to surrounding teeth.

Dentures:

Denture and Partial Dentures  are used to replace missing teeth.  A Full Denture replaces all the teeth in an arch, while Partial Dentures replace one or several teeth in an arch.

Oral and Maxillofacial Treatments:

Wisdom teeth extraction, impacted teeth extraction.

Periodontal (Gum Disease) Treatment:

The treatments for early gum disease typically include tooth scaling and cleaning.  Later-stage gum disease treatment may include deep-plane scaling with local anesthesia, or even periodontal surgery and laser surgery.

Special Treatments:

Special treatment considerations are made for those in need such as children, the elderly and those with disabilities.
